Western Australia Police have made an appeal to the public after a seven year-old girl was sexually assaulted in her bed at a home in Perth.
Police say on the evening of December 26, the child went to bed as normal.
But when the child woke in the morning, she disclosed to her parents that she had been sexually assaulted during the night.
Forensics officers, mounted police and drone operators are searching an area in the Perth suburb of Ellenbrook – which is bordered by Tonkin Highway, The Broadway and The Promenade – for any items that may assist.
This includes a window fly screen and a girl’s pyjama top, which were both missing from the home.
Child abuse squad detectives are appealing for information from the public in relation to the incident.
Investigators would like to speak to anyone who has seen the items listed or has dashcam or CCTV vision from the area between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or make a report online at crimestopperswa.com.au.
