Petition to ban semi-automatic weapons delivered to NZ parliament

March 21, 2019. Nik Green and Brad Knewstubb speak to MPs outside New Zealand’s parliament buildings in Wellington on Wednesday, and deliver a petition signed by over 65,000 people calling for the ban on semi-automatic weapons. "The main thing I wanted to do today was to urge every single member of parliament to get behind efforts to ban semi-automatic weapons, to ban large capacity magazines, to regulate the advertising of firearms and take all other steps needed to keep the community safe from gun violence," Nik says. "So my message to MPs today is you’ve got an opportunity to get it right this time, don’t let us down." Brad Knewstubb says he wants all parties to come together on this issue. "We need you to help protect us," he says. (AAP VIDEO/Daniel Hicks)
