Perth Wildcats suffer major eleventh-hour blow ahead of today’s clash against Adelaide 36ers with star Bryce Cotton ruled out of match

The Perth Wildcats have suffered a major eleventh-hour blow ahead of today’s clash against the Adelaide 36ers, with star Bryce Cotton ruled out of the match.

The league’s MVP-favourite experienced knee soreness at training towards the back end of this week and failed to pass a fitness test this morning.

Cotton’s absence comes as reigning grand final MVP Terrico White was also ruled out of the match, while captain Damian Martin is also on restricted minutes in his second game back from a foot injury.

Development players Nic Pozoglou, Luke Travers and Taylor Britt will be suiting up instead.

The Wildcats have already locked down second spot on the ladder, but coach Trevor Gleeson insists there’ll be no complacency from his side.

“You’ve got to go into the finals with great momentum,” Gleeson said.

“As soon as Miles (Plumlee) came in, our record is 5-1 and we’ve played four or five play-off teams out of that.

“Going into any play-off system, you want momentum. That carries you forward.”

Tip off against the 36ers is 6pm WST.
