Perth Wildcats announce signing of WA expertise, seven-footer Andrew Ferguson as development player

The Wildcats have added some tall timber to the back end of their roster, signing WA seven-footer Andrew Ferguson as a development player.

Ferguson made the call to put his US college career with the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters on hold due to COVID-19 uncertainty and remain in Perth, where he has been plying his trade with local club Lakeside.

“Ferg has a really good skill set, being seven-foot tall with the ability to shoot the three,” Wildcats coach Trevor Gleeson said.

The 21-year-old joins Luke Travers and Taylor Britt as development players, who sit outside the main 10-man roster but can still feature at NBL level.

The Wildcats have one spot remaining to fill on their main roster following the signing of import power forward John Mooney earlier this month.

The club is awaiting an update on Bryce Cotton’s citizenship application before determining whether to chase an import or local player to complete their squad.
