Surf Life Saving WA closed the beaches in Perth’s northern suburbs for about an hour around lunch time on Saturday, taking no chances after swimmer Paul Millachip was fatally attacked by a shark two weeks ago.

A 2m tiger shark was spotted by the public at Swanbourne just before midday, before an unknown shark, possibly the same one, was seen further south.

There have also been numerous shark sightings around Rockingham, Margaret River, Yallingup and Dunsborough in the past day.

The sunny 29 degree day has attracted many beachgoers, meaning authorities are on high alert.

It comes just 24 hours after City Beach and Floreat beaches were closed due to a tagged shark detection.

A great white set off the alert system in Floreat and then Scarborough a couple of hours later.

It has been two weeks since Mr Millachip was attacked by a shark at Port Beach in Fremantle.

Police searched for Mr Millachip for a day, but only found his goggles.

The search was called off because there was believed to be no chance the 57-year-old could have survived the attack.

A group of teenagers were at the time hailed for trying to save the man and alert others to the danger.

Ewan, Lawson, Hayden and Tahj were publically thanked by Mr Millachip’s wife following the attack.
