Perth petrol prices hit record levels once again

Perth’s petrol price has again hit a record high.

The average price for unleaded petrol in the metropolitan area on Tuesday is 165.5c/litre, which is a jump of about 14c overnight.

Due to Perth’s weekly fuel price cycle, Tuesday is traditionally the most expensive day of the week, whereas Sundays and Mondays are the cheapest.

The cheapest petrol in Perth on Tuesday is 147.7c/litre at Better Choice Naval Base on Rockingham Road.

The cheapest petrol north of the river is 148.5c/litre at Better Choice Tuart Hill on Wanneroo Road while FastFuel 24/7 on Cumberland Road in Forrestfield has petrol for 147.9c/litre.

Filling up at Perth’s cheaper petrol stations rather than one with an average price can save up to $13 on a 70-litre tank.

On Sunday the RAC warned that if the average unleaded price for the year to date was to increase to highs reached this week, Perth motorists would be hit with a $350 increase in their bill compared with last year’s average.

Fuel Watch assistant manager Ben Derecki said prices would likely remain high in the short term but there could be good news ahead after a drop in the Singapore benchmark, which dictates Australian petrol prices.
