Perth petrol costs: Fuel to soar to record high of 214.four cpl on Wednesday

Perth motorists will be forced to fork out even more with fuel soaring to a new record high.

From 6am Wednesday drivers in Perth and Mandurah will be hit with an average unleaded petrol price of 214.4 cents per litre.

It usurps the city’s previous high of 212.9 cpl set late in March before the then Morrison Government’s fuel excise cut eased pressure on Australian drivers.

Coles Express outlets will hike fuel a further 42 cents for an average of $2.29 for every litre. Elsewhere Caltex Woolworths, Ampol and BP will slug drivers 224.9 cpl.

Showing just how much drivers will feel the pinch, even cheap options (there will be 36 individual sites offering prices below 188 cpl) like Shell Alkimos will slug drivers 185.3 cpl.

“Consumers should check the FuelWatch website to find the lowest price near them,” a FuelWatch spokeswoman said, with the price cycle not bottoming out for another two weeks.

They added that by buying cheap drivers could save as much as $26 on a 60 litre tank.

Tuesday’s cheapest ULP is available for:

  • 186.9 cpl at Coles Express Forrestfield in the East;
  • 184.7 cpl at Costco Perth Airport (membership required) and 184.9 cpl at Vibe Kwinana OPT in the South; and
  • 185.3 cpl at Shell Alkimos, United Bassendean, United Hepburn Heights, United Neerabup, United Osborne Park and United Tapping in the North.
