Perth Glory have signed highly-rated defender Natalie Tobin from Sydney FC as coach Alex Epakis begins his rebuild for the next W-League season .
The Australian under-17 and under-20 representative, who can also play in midfield, has been with Sydney FC since her 2012 debut.
Tobin, 24, has made more than 60 Sydney appearances, started every game in last season’s premiership title campaign and was in their 2012 and 2013 grand final-winning squads.
“It’s a really exciting opportunity to play for what has been a very successful team over the years,” Tobin said.
“The club went through a bit of a transitional phase last year. I’ve been a part of those in the past, that’s something exciting to be a part of.
“Alex has a great vision for the team culture and a very positive outlook towards the season. It all sounds very promising.”
Epakis said Tobin was a “perfect fit” for the Glory.
“Nat brings qualities as both a player and as a leader. She is a well-established and respected player,” he said.
“She perfectly fits the type of player we are looking to have within the club.”
Glory chief executive Tony Pignata said: “I worked with Nat during my time at Sydney FC and can certainly vouch for Alex’s assessment of her as both a player and as a character.”
