By now you’re likely working from a brand new office; one whose commute takes a whole five seconds, where meetings have (finally) been replaced with emails, and pants are optional.
While the way we work, live and eat has been turned on its head in the midst of COVID-19, there is one industry that can’t carry out its regular nine-to-five duties from home — our beloved WA cafes, bars and restaurants.
Luckily, this doesn’t mean that you can’t indulge in a woodfired pizza or sip your way through a much-needed morning caffeine-fix. Plenty of Perth hospitality operators are getting savvy with their offerings to ensure you can still enjoy your favourite dishes safely while, importantly, helping staff stay employed and the business stay afloat.
We’ve created this list of places that are open for takeaway and delivery so you can keep your tinned peas in the cupboard for a little longer and support local business when they need it the most.
And if you are a local operator who is offering a similar response to the COVID-19 crisis, let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
NORTHBRIDGE AND CBD
Wines of While
If you crave your favourite foods — be it cheese, bread or likely both — in times of stress then Wines of While in Northbridge has your back. Turning their space into a small grocer they will be selling their mouth-watering sourdough, pasture-raised eggs, vegetables, fresh pasta, sauces and of course wine to ensure you’re eating and drinking well.
The State Buildings have long been a favourite for an after-work wine onor a spot to impress on date night, and the great news is that you can still enjoy your favourite dishes from its restaurants. Order lunch or dinner from Petition, Post and Long Chim, and for something extra special make the most of their wine, beer or cocktail delivery too.
This popular William Street eatery is offering takeaway by delivery or pick-up. From their melt-in-your-mouth goat shoulder to roasted cauliflower — which you may want to order two of so no fights break out over who gets the last bit — you can’t go wrong with the array of meals available from Bivouac.
If you wake up in need of an extra pick-me-up this crowd-favourite cafe on Lake Street is on hand to do exactly this. They are offering their entire dine-in menu takeaway with 10 per cent off the price.
Kale & Co
Why do salads always seem to taste better when someone else makes them for us? Well the chefs from Kale & Co won’t share exactly what they put in their collection of clean meals — ranging from salads to curries, pastas and risotto — but they will deliver them straight to your door. Owned by mother and daughter Michele Stummer and Jenna Nelkovski, the team are delivering to more than 120 suburbs across Perth.
The gang behind the super-spicy and award-winning chilli Dingo Sauce Co are turning their hand to creating seasonal, heat-and-eat meals delivered straight to your door. The menu will change on a weekly basis, with a range of both meat-based and vegetarian options available.
Put your hand up if in addition to supermarkets and pharmacies, you think bottle shops are an essential service? The team behind this Bayswater bar, boutique bottle shop and restaurant must agree as they are delivering pasta, pizza and wine to surrounding areas, as well as having it available to pick up.
Someday Coffee Co
If you’re dreading missing out on your weekend brunch ritual, never fear — Perth breakfast maestros including Floreat’s Someday Coffee Co are still offering up their morning delicacies. Order a takeaway version of all of your favourites, from their riff on avo smash to ruby, raspberry and rosewater pancakes.
Whether it is practising yoga or meditation in the morning or a glass of red in the evening, we all need to be doing the things that make us happy. For many foodies, this is indulging in a Monsterella pizza, so ensure you’re making the most of the Wembley eatery’s takeaway and delivery service.
Just because you can’t physically travel somewhere exotic, doesn’t mean your taste buds can’t. Kitsch in Leederville is offering a to-go menu of their Asian fusion favourites at 20 per cent off, pick-up or delivered.
One perk of takeaway is that it is socially acceptable to eat your favourite dishes in your dressing gown or activewear, and go back for seconds or thirds. This is highly encouraged by the Lions and Tigers team, who are offering a takeaway menu to pick up as well as an array of curated feasts to keep you full and satisfied. Their sister store Duck Duck Bruce are also open for takeaway for all your brunch needs.
For many pasta-lovers, a bowl of Il Lido’s gnocchi or blue swimmer crab linguine would be their final meal, so it makes sense to be daydreaming about it during this time of uncertainty. From 4pm each day you can order pasta or risotto and pasta and pick it up from the Cottesloe restaurant’s side door — bellisimo!
Why stop at pasta when you can add pizza to your Italian feast? Just a few hundred metres down from Il Lido, Canteen Pizza is offering their pizzas takeaway to grab from their side entrance.
