The Harvey Shire Council has partnered with Volunteer South West to encourage more people to give back to the community and lend a hand.
A sum of $5000 was injected into the initiative by the council, which aims to grow the volunteering landscape in Harvey.
The group, which operates in Bunbury, will now also run an office out of the Harvey Community Resource Centre and work with not-for-profit groups in the region.
Volunteer South West team member Shamara Williams said they were aiming to break down the stigmas surrounding volunteering so that it was accessible to a wider demographic.
“We also run courses that help with training, grant writing and breaking down roles,” Ms Williams said.
Harvey shire president Paul Gillett said volunteers were the backbone of the community and was excited to get the ball rolling.
