Paris ‘Spider-man’ saves boy dangling from balcony

VideoA man in Paris scaled four storeys of a building in a matter of seconds to rescue a child.

A man has been hailed a hero after climbing five storeys to rescue a child dangling from a balcony in Paris.

Malian immigrant Mamoudou Gassama did not hesitate when he saw the young boy in danger and immediately began scaling the side building.

Onlookers cheered when he reached youngster and pulled him to safety.

The heart-stopping rescue was filmed and posted on Twitter on Saturday.

“I did it because it was a child,” Mr Gassama told the Le Parisien newspaper.

“I climbed … thank God I saved him.”

Paris Mayor Anne Hildago congratulated Mr Mr Gassama and said she would support his desire to stay in France permanently.

“He explained to me that he arrived from Mali a few months ago while dreaming of building his life here,” she wrote on Twitter.

“I replied that his heroic gesture is an example for all citizens and that the City of Paris will obviously be keen to support him in his efforts to settle in France.”
