Pantry to serve up some fresh community cheer

The community has been through a lot this year and the Manjimup Pantry wants to do its part to bring some joy to the town.

The Manjimup Pantry is a low-cost service provided to people in need, who can purchase all kinds of food at more affordable prices.

In an effort to raise money for a new fridge and stove to help in their dream to open a community cafe, the folk behind the pantry are staging a concert.

Seventh Day Adventist Church Pastor Ross Craig said the Manjimup Pantry, its organisers and its volunteers wanted to give people a chance to kick back and relax.

“This year has been an absolute nightmare for everyone,” he said.

Pastor Craig said the Manjimup Pantry was looking to take another step in food service by organising a community cafe.

“To do this, we need a new fridge and a new stove,” he said.

“And as soon as we’ve raised the money, we’ll start putting the cafe on.”

The free concert, called In Times Like These, will be held on Saturday from 7.30pm at the Wellness and Respite Community Centre.

People are being asked for a gold coin donation towards the community cafe. Reshments will be available for purchase.
