Osasuna have continued their impressive start to the La Liga campaign in Spain by defeating promoted Almeria 1-0.
Argentinian forward Chimy Avila scored the only goal of the game on Monday night with a first-time shot from near the penalty spot in the 28th minute.
It was the fourth win in five matches for the club from Pamplona, the same number as Barcelona and Real Betis. It moves them up to 12 points and fourth in the standings, two behind league leaders and defending champions Real Madrid – who have five wins.
It was the second straight defeat for Almeria, and third overall. The Saudi-owned club are back in the first division after a seven-year absence, and sit currently 14th in the 20-team competition.
Osasuna’s next two games are in the capital, against Getafe and Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid.
