One person was killed in northeast Eaton early Tuesday night after a train struck an automobile.
According to Sgt. Kevin Sturch of the Eaton Police Department, authorities responded to a report of a crash about 6 p.m. Tuesday at 5th Street and Oak Avenue.
After arriving on the scene, police found the body of a deceased adult female in a Ford SUV. They determined the SUV was heading west on 5th Street when it was hit by a southbound train.
First responders were still on scene just after 8 p.m. The line of flatbed train cars bisected the crash site, with the majority of emergency vehicles clustered to the east of the tracks.
