The Goldfields Oasis was recognised nationally this week as it won the prize for the 2018 Best Rural Industry Contribution in WA.
The Awards of Excellence, from Parks and Leisure Australia, were announced on Tuesday night at the national finalists gala dinner held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The award recognised the Goldfields Oasis as the industry leader for outstanding facilities and innovative approaches in maximising community recreation and leisure opportunities.
City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder chief executive John Walker said the award demonstrated the commitment by the Oasis to building a better community in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
“The Goldfields Oasis has outstanding facilities to service the residents and provides quality customer service to our community by providing outreach programs — such as Pledge to Parkrun and Seniors Fitness classes — run in conjunction with the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre, not to mention the many more connections with local fitness community clubs such as the Kalgoorlie Tri Club,” he said.
“The staff at the Oasis do a great job promoting the family friendly facility, and I wish to congratulate them all on their success and dedication.
“If you haven’t been to the Oasis yet I would encourage you to call in and check out what support is available there that will improve your health and fitness — there is something for everyone.”
