New Zealand bans semi-automatics after Christchurch shooting

New Zealand has banned military-style semi-automatic rifles, with the government announcing a buyback after a shooting at two mosques killed 50 people. There will also be a ban on assault rifles, high capacity magazines, and certain modification parts. Speaking on Thursday, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said ‘in short, every semi-automatic weapon used in the terrorist attack on Friday will be banned in this country’.
