New era for old club

A new function centre offering venue hire, catering and the full experience will open in Kalgoorlie-Boulder next week.

Goldfields Function Centre is the new business that will take over from the Kalgoorlie Italian Club located on Lane Street, next Tuesday after 40 years in operation.

Formerly a space for the Italian community in Kalgoorlie-Boulder to gather and as a venue hire option for community events, the space will now make room for a new venture.

Recognising a gap in the events industry in the community, owner Jean Rankin and her family-run business will offer the full event package for all functions.

“We are hoping to offer complete packages for any events including hiring the space, the catering, all of the setting up, a bar and more,” Mrs Rankin said.

“With a function centre you don’t have to get anyone to do the work for you, it’s all catered for all-in-one. We’re really excited to get started.”

Mrs Rankin said the centre would be able to cater for any kind of event including weddings, wakes, birthdays and anniversaries.

Mrs Rankin said works would be done to modernise the premises.

The first event will be a Mother’s Day high tea.
