Neil Magny gets UFC opponent, offers $15Ok donation to help young girl fighting disease

UFC fighter Neil Magny landed a replacement opponent and a young girl is getting $15,000 to help battle a rare genetic disease.

Magny (20-6), who trains with the Denver-based Elevation Fight Team, will face Craig White at UFC Fight Night on May 27 in Liverpool, England. White (14-7) replaces Gunnar Nelson and is making his debut with the company.

On May 10, Magny posted on Instagram that if he gets a new opponent, he would pledge a portion of his earnings from the bout to help 1-year-old Presley O’Doherty battle spinal muscular atrophy. It is a disease that affects part of the nervous system that controls voluntary muscle movement.

“If the UFC is able to find me an opponent for May 27th,” he wrote on Instagram, “I will donate $15,000 of my fight purse to help this little girl and her family get the care that she needs.”

Magny, ranked No. 9 among UFC welterweights, is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Carlos Condit in December.
