My Wheels: Yuki Nakamura | The West Australian

Sociologist Yuki Nakamura gave up her R&D job in Japan to pursue her passion creating exquisite, handmade chocolates. She tells us why she loves her car, but dreams about a Postman Pat delivery van…

What are you driving and why did you buy it?

A Honda Jazz. I was looking for a compact yet roomy and fuel-efficient car. The Jazz ticked all the boxes. We can fit a child seat, a pram, camping gear and an esky — all the important things in my life.

What’s your Dream Car?

If I could, I would love to buy a Postman Pat red delivery van. There is something about his van that makes me smile.

What was your first car?

A Pontiac Sunfire 2000. I bought the car back in Canada when I was a student. It was manual and perfect for driving in snow and in town. When I bought the car, I had to teach myself to drive a manual, which resulted in me repeatedly conking out in my old neighbourhood.

What annoys you most about other motorists?

I get annoyed when people park their cars badly and take up two bays, especially if it is a busy carpark.

What’s your favourite driving music?

I like to listen to musicals, movie soundtracks and sing out loud in the car. The Sound of Music, Moana and Hair Spray soundtracks are my favourites.
