Mullet comeback inspires contest | The West Australian

A youth festival plans to uncover the best mullet in the Shire of Manjimup.

So My Fest will run a mullet competition for ages 12 to 25, with the chance to win prizes donated by Manji Men’s Barber Shop and Steve’s Mensland.

Organiser Maegen Campbell said she was inspired to run the competition after noticing an increase in mullets at schools she visited in the area.

“I put it to our committee and said we are going to have to do something to encourage this, so the mullet competition was invented,” she said.

Ms Campbell said the key to a good mullet was grooming.

“They reckon to keep the sides perfect you have to cut them every week,” she said.

As well as the mullet contest, So My Fest is running a Fashions at the Festival event to ensure those without mullets are included, with prizes donated by Studio S and Ree-wind.

So My Fest will take place at the RSL Park in Pemberton on October 17 and is free to attend.
