Move to Perth prompts hair salon sale

After eight years of running Kambalda Hair, Sarah Edwards has put the hairdressing business on the market.

The veteran hairdresser has run the salon in Kambalda West and Kambalda East over the past eight years but decided to sell the business as she prepares to pack and move her family to Perth.

“It is just giving the kids a bit more opportunity and it is closer to family as well,” she said.

The business has been on the market for just under a month and although she has been getting interest from parties in Kambalda and Kalgoorlie-Boulder, a buyer is yet to take the plunge.

Ms Edwards said she had a moving date set before Christmas, so if the business did not sell by December, she would be forced to close the salon instead.

Small business closure has been a topic of issue in the town, after the only bank and petrol station shut their doors in recent months.

Ms Edwards said she had received feedback from many loyal clients that they were disappointed to see the only hair salon in town changing hands, with the possibility of closure.

“Everyone is really supportive just purely because I’ve had clients here for eight years,” she said.

Ms Edwards said she hoped another business owner with the same attitude would take over.

“I’m hoping someone like me, because I have such easygoing, amazing clients,” she said.

“I’m hoping it is someone who has that easygoing nature.”
