The Perth boy has celebrated his amazing Grand Prix win with an epic belly flop into a hotel pool surrounded by cheering teammates.
The rest of the team were quick to join him as they savoured a win that team boss Christian Horner compared to the Apollo 13 mission.
The Red Bull driver reported a loss of power on lap 28, an issue serious enough for the team to consider telling him to stop the car and save the engine.
The West Aussie kept his calm and carried on, easing off but knowing also the tight and twisty Monaco layout made it hard for anyone to pass unless he slowed dramatically.
“This is two years in the making,” he said. “After 2016 got away and when the problem hit today I thought ’what the hell have I got to do to win this race?’.”
