Three teens have been charged after allegedly attacking a kangaroo with a piece of wood.

Police allege the animal was clubbed multiple times with the handle of an axe and that the attack was filmed on a mobile phone.

The footage, which police say was recorded between March 1 and March 7, later made its way onto social media.

They say the incident occurred between March 1 and March 7.

An 18-year-old man from Swan View was charged by Midland detectives with one count of animal cruelty.

His appearance in Midland Magistrates Court has been set down for May 10.

Two others – a 17-year-old Boy from Brigadoon and an 18-year-old Midland man – have also been charged with one count each of animal cruelty.

Police said they would appear in court “at a later date”.
