The New York Mets have fired general manager Jared Porter for sending graphic, unsolicited text messages and images to a female reporter.
“We have terminated Jared Porter this morning,” the Major League Baseball club’s owner Steven Cohen said in a statement on Twitter on Tuesday.
“In my initial press conference I spoke about the importance of integrity and I meant it. There should be zero tolerance for this type of behaviour.”
The accusations against Porter were reported by ESPN on Monday night.
Porter reportedly sent dozens of uninvited messages to the reporter in 2016 when he was working for the Chicago Cubs in their front office.
