Medal haul shows hard work pays off

The Busselton Swimming Club competed in the WA State Age Swimming Championships over the weekend and brought home an array of medals.

BSC State Age team coach Andrew Sexton said the team was doing very well.

“We’ve got a really dedicated team, the hard work is really paying off. I’m very proud of them, especially those who have never won State medals before — they’re a very happy team,” he said.

Margaret River local and BSC State Age team swimmer Lucinda Jones won a gold, a silver and two bronze medallions at the competition and said she loved how she could put hard work in and see results.

“If you do badly it’s from your training and if you do well it’s from your training, too. It’s all on you. You have to put in the hard work,” she said.

This is the third year Jones has won the State championships and she has recently been accepted into the South West Association of Sport.

The club aims to foster paths for both competitive and non-competitive swimmers.
