Marlins turn on career best swim results

Manjimup Marlins swimmers Jack Perry and Brielle Krispyn had career best performances at the Hancock Prospecting State Short Course Championships.

Both swimmers achieved personal bests in all of the events they competed in and took home nine medals between them.

Jack, 14, won a gold medal in the 50m butterfly, a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke and bronze medals in the 50m backstroke and freestyle, with all of his medals coming in the men’s 14 and over multi-class competition.

He said this year’s results represented his best at the meet and put his success down to improvements in his technique.

Brielle took gold medals in the 14-year-old girls 200m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m freestyle, as well as silver medals in the 200m backstroke and 100m backstroke.

“Because of the break we had I thought I wouldn’t do as well,” she said. “We had only really just got back into training, but the break was kind of good because we got 100 per cent personal bests over the week.”

Brielle said she had worked on her technique and her breakouts and that was a major reason for her success.
