The West Australian
When you have a name like ‘Fakhar Zamar’, it’s only a matter of time before an Australian commentator trips up and says the inevitable.
Cricket great Mark Waugh did just that on Monday night while trying to say the Pakistani batsman’s name, cracking up his co-commentators as a result.
The former Australian cricketer was one of the TV hosts on Fox Sports for the first day’s play of the second test between Australia and Pakistan and was making note of how slow Australia had been bowling when he stumbled.
“I was close, come on,” he says in defence to Brett Lee and Neroli Meadows who can’t help but laugh.
Other notable similar sports bloopers include Alastair Lynch accidentally dropping the f-bomb and Gerard Healy mispronouncing ‘Gold Coast’, using a much less G-rated word beginning with ‘C’.
