A family living in Perth’s northern suburbs has been left rattled after their home was shot-up and car set on fire.
The two-storey house on Giralt Road in Marangaroo became the target of the drive-by shooting about 2am, when a man rode up to the property on a motorcycle and set a white Hyundai i30, parked in the driveway, on fire.
A person inside the home who went outside to investigate the commotion was then targeted, with the motorbike rider firing a gun in his direction.
The single bullet narrowly missed him, striking a brick wall instead.
The motorcycle rider then escaped the scene on his bike. He was last seen riding north on Giralt Road.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services was called to the incident, as was WA Police.
Two fire crews from Wangara arrived at the home just before 3am to find the car alight. It took them five minutes to extinguish the blaze, make it safe and leave the incident with police.
The home was cordoned off for several hours as police examined the crime scene, before towing the car away for forensic examination.
Joondalup detectives are leading the investigation.
They were seen at the house again on Sunday morning, hours after emergency services left the property in the owners’ hands.
Police are urging anyone with CCTV, dash-cam or mobile vision of the motorbike to upload it directly to police.
Anyone with information regarding the drive-by attack is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online.
