Manchester United players try their hand at Aussie slang ahead of Perth Optus Stadium visit

English Premier League football giants Manchester United have been brushing up on their Aussie slang ahead of this year’s tour Down Under — and, well, they’re pretty rubbish.

The players were filmed by the club trying to pronounce slang words and phrases such as ‘hard yakka’, ‘bonza’ and ‘fair dinkum’.

The hilarious video features international players worth hundreds of millions of dollars in total — from Brazillian midfielder Fred, to Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku and English defender Chris Smalling.

The Red Devils will play two blockbuster games at Optus Stadium this year, against A-League locals Perth Glory and fierce rivals Leeds United.

The club announced a world-first partnership last month local charity Telethon, which will help develop a soccer program that will allow children with physical and intellectual disabilities to play in an integrated team competition with clubs around Perth.

The games will be played on Saturday, July 13, and Wednesday, July 17 — following the West Coast Eagles’ second grand final rematch against Collingwood on Friday, July 12.

But if the video is anything to go by, they may have a bit of work to do if they are to understand anything the locals say when they get here.
