Police said one of the men was knocked to ground while the other man “received a severe laceration to his wrist and hand” during the incident near the intersection of Ferguson Street and Henry Street in Midland.
Detectives would not comment on the specific weapon used or confirm whether a sword was involved.
The group of five was seen running east along Henry Street towards Wroxton Street.
