Man fighting for life, woman seriously injured in head-on Nambeelup crash

A man is fighting for life and a woman has been seriously injured after a head-on car crash near Mandurah.

Two cars collided on Paterson Road, near the intersection of Rogers Road, in Nambeelup about 4.40pm on Thursday.

The woman has been airlifted by the RAC rescue helicopter to Royal Perth Hospital with serious leg injuries, while the man is understood to have suffered life-threatening injuries during the crash.

Both patients are aged in their 50s.

It is unclear at this stage how many people were involved in the crash.

At least one person was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by firefighters.

Paterson Road has been closed between Lakes Road to Old Mandurah Road as major crash officers investigate.
