Man charged over Hobart knife death

A man has been charged with murder after the death of a woman in a stabbing incident at a Hobart home.

Tasmania Police say a 60-year-old man will face after-hours court on Sunday after the 52-year-old woman’s death in Royal Hobart Hospital, where she was taken after the incident.

The man and the woman were known to each other.

Police responding to reports of an incident at a home in Binalong Road in Mornington, about 7km east of Hobart city centre, found the woman in a serious condition with upper body injuries.

Two teenagers were at the residence when the incident occurred, as well as the arrested man, Tasmania Police said in a statement.

“The two teenagers were not physically injured but of course they are significantly distressed by this incident,” it said, adding that the teens are “in good care” and will be provided with support.
