A 29-year old Thornlie man has been charged after a motorbike rider was killed in a horror crash in Coolbellup last night.
Police say a silver and red Moto Guzzi motorcycle and a white Hyundai I45 collided at the intersection of North Lake Road and Winterfold Road just before 7.30pm.
The 53-year-old motorcyclist was taken to Fiona Stanley hospital in a critical condition, but died from his injuries a short time later.
The driver of the Hyundai was uninjured.
A witness said they saw the other motorist trying to resuscitate the man as he lay motionless on the road.
“We were just sitting in the house and we heard some revving… and then heard a big smash,” the witness told The West Australian.
“Then we realised something severe had happened.
“We went outside — saw the man on the road with his motorbike to the side.”
The driver of the Hyundai has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and was refused bail. He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today.
Investigators would like to speak with anyone who saw the motorcycle or Hyundai prior to the crash, anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash camera footage of the vehicles in the area around the time of the crash.
