A 55-year-old Caroline Springs man was arrested in East Gippsland at 5.30pm on Monday by Victoria Police’s special operations group.

He will be interviewed by police on Tuesday morning.

“The investigation into the matter remains ongoing and further information will be released when operationally appropriate to do so,” police said.

Mr Hill, 74, and 73-year-old Ms Clay were last known to be alive in the state’s remote Wonnangatta Valley, 350km northeast of Melbourne, on March 20, 2020.
