A man who allegedly fired gunshots at a woman before forcing her into a vehicle was arrested Wednesday by Englewood police.
The incident unfolded about 2 p.m. in the 3600 block of South Delaware Street, police said in a news release.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired and a woman being dragged into a dark-colored Mercedes. Officers spotted the Mercedes in the 4000 block of South Broadway, and a short chase ensued, according to the release.
The driver of the Mercedes pulled into the backyard of a home in the 3800 block of Clarkson Street. The driver then attempted to drive out of the yard and hit a parked vehicle. He was taken into custody, and officers seized a pistol and rifle from the Mercedes, police said.
Dylan Coons, 26, was arrested on suspicion of attempted first degree murder, kidnapping, and additional charges. The victim, a 27-year-old woman who was in a “domestic relationship” with Coons, told police that the suspect fired two shots at her as she tried to run from him. She was not hit by the gunfire and was not injured.
