The first round of the Lower South West Football League is shaping up to be a cracking affair as the season looks to get under way.
In the premier division, the Southerners Football Club will open their season against Deanmill on their home turf in Pemberton on Saturday as they look to forget the woes of last year and get off to a good start in 2022.
Both Southerners and Deanmill will be fielding their best outfits on Saturday to give themselves the best possible chance of getting the year off to a good start.
Elsewhere in the competition, the Manjimup Tigers will play host to the 2021 LSWFL premiers Bridgetown Bulldogs on Saturday.
Bridgetown had a nearly flawless year last season and suffered only two losses, with their first defeat at the hands of the Tigers.
The last match of the first round for the premier competition will be between Boyup Brook and Imperials Football Club on Sunday in Boyup Brook as both sides look to start the season in flying colours.
The Boyup Brook Roos were runners up in the premier division last year and will be looking to get off the starting block in the best possible way in 2022.
All reserves squads and colts teams will be playing the same days as their league outfits against the same clubs over the weekend as well, with the exception of Boyup Brook who did not field a colts team this year.
The competition was in danger of not going ahead due to the Level 2 restrictions imposed by the State Government in response to COVID-19.
However, with the easing of restrictions the LSWFL will go ahead as planned.
