Liverpool midfielder James Milner faces several weeks on the sidelines with the hamstring injury he suffered in Sunday’s 5-0 win over Manchester United.
Milner was forced off after just 27 minutes of the game at Old Trafford and assistant manager Pep Lijnders expects the 35-year-old to be out until after the international break in mid-November.
There was better news for Naby Keita, who was carried off on a stretcher having been on the receiving end of a two-footed lunge from half-time substitute Paul Pogba, who was sent off for the tackle.
Keita suffered only a bruise in the incident and is being assessed on a daily basis.
The Reds next play Preston in the League Cup on Wednesday, then are at home to Brighton on Saturday in the Premier League followed by a Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid at Anfield next week Wednesday.
