Liam Ryan, Luke Shuey, Chris Masten back for West Coast Eagles’ clash against Sydney at the SCG

West Coast will put their trust in first-year pair Jarrod Brander and Liam Ryan on the Friday night stage against Sydney at the SCG on Friday night, while Jeremy McGovern must stand Lance Franklin after Tom Barrass failed to come up for the clash.

Having already announced top draft pick for 2017 Brander would be their seventh debutant against the Swans, the Eagles also made the brave move to select electric forward Ryan after nine weeks on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

Gun midfielder Luke Shuey and the hard-running Chris Masten also return from hamstring injuries to make it four changes for the blockbuster clash.

Mark Hutchings and Brendon Ah Chee were dropped, with Barrass (back) and Jack Darling (ankle) the forced outs.

Hutchings and potential debutant Oscar Allen were the travelling emergencies.

Franklin booted eight goals last time the teams met in round one – West Coast’s only loss of the season.

Barrass, Will Schofield and McGovern all spent time on the superstar forward back in March, but McGovern is the only key back selected this time around. Allen has been playing largely in defence at WAFL level.

The Swans lost veteran defender Jarrad McVeigh to a calf injury, while Daniel Robinson was dropped.

But Sydney welcomed back Kieran Jack, while forgotten West Australian Aliir Aliir has been name for just his second game of the season.
