I’ve always loved Jennifer Lawrence.
Not only is she a great actor, but she’s smart, funny and very honest.
And it’s that honesty that makes her so relatable.
In her first interview since giving birth to her son, the new mum admitted she was worried she wouldn’t love her baby as much as her cat.
“I remember walking with one of my best friends at, like, nine months, and being like, ‘Everyone keeps saying that I will love my baby more than my cat. But that’s not true. Maybe I’ll love him as much as my cat?’” she told Vogue.
As it turns out, she did.
But I can understand why she was worried.
There are so many unknowns when you are pregnant with your first child.
Most of us have no idea what to expect.
And often our pets are the closest things we’ve had to a baby in our lives.
So, the fear is very real.
In my case, that fear was compounded by the fact my husband and I bought a new puppy just months before I was due to give birth.
His name was Pickle and he was a golden Labrador and he was the cutest bundle of fluff I’d ever seen.
I was in love and I remember thinking: “if I love this kid half as much as I love this dog, I’ll be winning”.
I spent months worrying about it and whether I would feel the love instantly.
As it turns out, I did.
Just don’t tell Pickle.
