Kardinya soap factory fire contained and under control after more than 24 hours

A fire which ripped through a soap factory in Kardinya, blanketing the area in smoke and fumes has been contained.

Yesterday, several roads were closed and nearby residents were advised to keep windows and doors shut as more than 25 firefighters worked to bring the blaze at Aussie Soap Supplies under control.

The fire broke out just before 4.30am on Friday, and quickly engulfed the building, destroying everything inside.

Once emergency services arrived they declared the scene a HAZMAT fire.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce that a fire has taken hold of our offices and warehouses early this morning. The fire emergency department are currently in attendance,” they posted.

“As you can imagine, on top of everything else this year has thrown at all of us, it certainly is devastating news.”
