Foodbank will celebrate 25 years of fighting food poverty in WA next month, with the Kalgoorlie-Boulder branch hosting a dinner at the Goldfields Function Centre to mark the milestone.
The organisation has had a presence in Kalgoorlie-Boulder for about eight years and works to supply meals and food to people in need at reduced prices.
Foodbank Kalgoorlie-Boulder branch manager Tracey Luke said the dinner was designed to recognise the achievements of the local team and remind people of the importance of the charity.
“When people come in and they are battling and we are able to send them off with enough food for themselves and their families, it gives you a wonderful sense of fulfilment,” she said.
An auction of donated goods will also be held at the event.
Ms Luke said all donations from local businesses were welcome.
“It could be anything from a complimentary massage or haircut to white goods or a dinner for two,” she said.
Goldfields Function Centre owner Jean Rankin said she had been happy to donate her venue and cooking talents for the cause.
Auction donations must be received before the event on November 21.
