Two of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s talented highland dancers have been hand-picked to perform in an elite Australian team in a travelling performance in Russia next week.
Shenae Greatorex and Georgia Robertson of Kalgoorlie Dance Academy will jet off on Saturday to join the OzScott Australian Team.
The Russian Cultural Tour will see the girls, and 14 other Australian dancers, dance with teams from all around the world at various locations around the Crimean Peninsula, Ufa and Moscow.
Ms Greatorex said she was excited and honoured to be part of the festival, which would see them travelling and dancing for just shy of four weeks.
“It will be absolutely amazing to be performing in such a large and historical country,” she said.
“We enjoy the opportunity to dance because we love to share our love of highland dance with audiences.
“It will be a proud moment when the Australian team of dancers stand in Russia with the Australian flag.”
Ms Robertson said it would be her first time visiting Russia, and as excited as she was to represent Australia and Kalgoorlie, she was also excited to hit tourist hot-spots such as St Basil’s Cathedral.
“Dancing in front of so many amazing places is an incredible opportunity because we usually only dance in one location,” she said.
