Kalbarri woman Krystle Maigan Westwood appears in court on COVID vaccine bribe allegations

A Geraldton court has been told a woman accused of attempting to bribe a pharmacy to falsify her COVID vaccination records has since been given her first dose of the vaccine.

Kalbarri woman Krystle Maigan Westwood, 34, appeared for the first time in Geraldton Magistrates Court on Thursday after being charged with one count of inducing a person to do an unlawful act by fraud.

Police will allege Ms Westwood offered Geraldton pharmacist Mahmoud Elshwekh an “unspecified” sum of money to not give her a vaccine but record that he had on November 8.

The pharmacist is alleged to have refused and the woman left the premises.

Ms Westwood was later arrested by police in Kalbarri.

Defence lawyer Gerald Yin said the allegations had attracted some media attention and told the court Ms Westwood had now received one dose of a COVID vaccine.

The matter was adjourned for legal advice until December 23.

Ms Westwood was seen leaving court in a taxi on Thursday. Her bail conditions were extended.
