South West Phoenix boss Gareth Johnston is well aware of what most people will think about his side’s chances against Carramar Shamrock Rovers on Saturday at Bunbury’s Onside Sports Stadium.
“If people from the outside looking in viewed the ladder and saw Carramar sitting second and us rock-bottom, they would probably assume it would be a straightforward three points for Carramar,” he said.
“I think we surprised them earlier in the season. We defeated them 4-3 and probably could have won by a lot more. But in saying that, it is going to be a tough battle given the situation we are in.
“We need to start turning the corner. I know they (Carramar) will not want to come down to Bunbury and be defeated.”
Johnston believes that his side have worked intently in defending set plays at training, however need to ensure they do not concede cheap goals which could drag them further into the relegation mire.
