Inter coach cops ban for abusing referee

Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte has been suspended for two league games and fined 20,000 euros ($A31,430) after he was sent off for abusing a referee, the Serie A says.

Conte was booked and shortly after red-carded as he protested against the referee late into Saturday’s scoreless draw with Udinese Calcio.

After the game he approached the official “with a threatening attitude and shouting heavily offensive abuse”, the report from a sports judge read on Tuesday.

The coach had apologised in post-game interviews, saying he thought the referee should have played more added time.

Inter Milan sporting director Gabriele Oriali was fined 5,000 euros for insulting the referee.

Conte is to miss games the second-placed Nerazzurri play against Benevento and Fiorentina.
