Hurricane Michael kills at least 11 killed as flattened infrastructure hampers search

At least 11 people have died in the US state of Florida after it was torn apart by Hurricane Michael. The National Guard is leading search and rescue efforts in the wake of the category 4 storm, regarded as one of the worst to hit the nation, but the collapse of infrastructure is hampering the mission. While some locals who braved the storm described it as ‘beautiful’, entire parts of Mexico Beach have been swept away with evidence of hurled branches and sections of houses and cars strewn across the state.
