Human Nature finish hotel quarantine in Perth ahead of Christmas in the Park at Kings Park

Fresh out of hotel quarantine, Human Nature are experiencing somewhat of a culture shock after touching down in Perth.

With most band members making the trip over from the US — one of the world’s hardest hit countries with COVID-19 —Toby Allen, Phil Burton, Mike and Andrew Tierney, were still adjusting to their first day of “freedom” in lucky Western Australia today.

“Just the idea of not going out without a mask, I found it weird,” Allen confessed to AAA.

“It just became such a habit (while living in America), I had one in my pocket, I didn’t know if other people would have them on here.”

The foursome conceded that it felt “surreal” to emerge from isolation in a city that had forged on “like it never happened” due to the hard border closures.

“Even when we travelled over through Singapore, being out of America, you know it’s happening around the world but seeing another country coping with it, this thing is massive,” Allen said.

The legendary vocalists are in Perthto headline Christmas in the Park, the first concert to be held at Kings Park since COVID-19 began, on December 12.

It will also be a first for Human Nature — who haven’t been able to take to the stage since their long term Las Vegas residency was shutdown in March.

“For us, the impact on our lives and our career and our families, it’s our livelihood that just stopped in a heartbeat,” Andrew said.

The band will finish out the year with shows in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Canberra.
