High Wycombe bushfire: Emergency warning in place as fire threatens lives and homes

Lives and homes are under threat from an out-of-control bushfire in High Wycombe.

An emergency warning is in place for people in the area bounded by Sultana Road, Milner Road, Maida Vale Road, Kalamunda Road, Hawtin Road and Bruce Road in the southern part of High Wycombe.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services says people in the affected area should leave now, if safe to do so.

The fire, which is started just before 1.30pm, is moving in a north westerly direction.

Firefighters are on the scene fighting the fire.

A number of roads have been closed including Roe Highway between Berkshire Road and Maida Vale and Sultana Road West.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.
