Hedland Careers Expo draws more than 450 visitors

Almost 40 companies came together recently at the Hedland Careers Expo, helping guide more than 450 visiting students and aspiring leaders along a pathway to work.

After initially being delayed from its usual May schedule because COVID-19, the 2022 Hedland Careers Careers Expo, held at TAFE’s Pundulmurra campus on August 19, showcased 37 different stalls from various industries.

Some of the biggest players — including BHP, FMG and Roy Hill — were at the event, as well as some local employers including Pilbara Community Legal Service, the Pilbara Universities Centre and the Town of Port Hedland.

The expo gives both local business and industry insight into the next generation of local workers, with youngsters able to peek into roles across a broad range of sectors.

It wasn’t just the youngsters the expo aimed to draw either. With adult apprenticeships on the rise there were stalls dedicated to informing mature-aged students of their options.
