Hawks beat Lakers for 7th straight NBA win

Trae Young has scored 36 points and the Hawks earned their seventh straight win by rallying in the fourth quarter to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 129-121 in Atlanta on Sunday.

Young also had 12 assists while John Collins added 20 points with 11 rebounds, and Clint Capela scored 15 points.

Malik Monk led LA with 33 points in the Lakers’ third consecutive loss, all without LeBron James due to continued swelling in his left knee.

The Hawks (24-25) matched their longest win streak of the season by charging back after trailing 101-91 entering the fourth quarter.

“If our mindset is right we get stops on the defensive end … I think we have a good chance of winning any night,” Young said.

Anthony Davis, returning after missing one game with a sore right wrist, had 27 points for Los Angeles (24-27) and Russell Westbrook added 20 points.

“We’re not in the position we want to be right now but that’s OK,” Westbrook, who also had 12 assists, said.

“We know what we need to do as a team. Just find a way to get over the hump and close games out.”

In Chicago, Nikola Vucevic had 24 points and 14 rebounds, DeMar DeRozan added 23 points and 10 assists, and the Bulls overcame a slow to start to beat the Portland Trail Blazers 130-116.

Zach LaVine had 20 points and Ayo Dosunmu finished with 11 assists as Chicago improved to 31-18, one win behind the Eastern Conference-leading Miami Heat.

In Charlotte, Reggie Jackson and Brandon Boston Jr. each scored 19 points to help the Los Angeles Clippers defeat the Charlotte Hornet 115-90.

Marcus Morris Sr. scored 16 points for the Clippers (26-26) while LaMelo Ball had 23 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds for Charlotte (28-23).

And in Detroit, the struggling Pistons overcame a terrible start to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-105.
